
Inventory Accounting Manager

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Include, but are not limited to, the following. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
- Manage the month-end close process for inventory, including journal entries, account reconciliations, rebate accruals, and inventory reserve calculations.
- Oversee inventory valuation methods (e.g., FIFO, weighted average) and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
- Reconcile inventory subledger to the general ledger monthly.
- Monitor and analyze inventory movements including receipts, transfers, usage, and waste, with a focus on high-cost medications (e.g., IVIG, biologics).
- Partner with pharmacy operations and procurement to ensure accurate product costing and timely reporting of purchase variances.
- Work with finance and billing teams to validate gross margin reporting, cost-of-goods sold, and drug-level profitability.
- Assist with developing and maintaining inventory control policies, including physical inventory counts and cycle count programs.
- Prepare audit support for inventory-related balances and assist with internal and external audit requests.
- Lead and mentor the Inventory Accounting team; supervise day-to-day activities of inventory accountants or analysts as assigned.
- Participate in system implementations or upgrades (e.g., ERP, inventory tracking tools) as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned by management.

- Excellent communication skills with proven ability to effectively communicate with other internal departments at all levels within an organization.
- Strong financial analysis skills with the ability to interpret and communicate operational results to management.
- Ability to recognize changes within the organization, analyze the impact of these changes and communicate risks and recommend opportunities for the organization.
- Detail-oriented with a problem-solving and customer service attitude.
- Strong computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and various software applications.
- Ability to travel approximately 10% of the time.
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- CPA or CMA designation preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years focused on inventory accounting.
- Experience in healthcare, pharmacy, or pharmaceutical distribution highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and inventory valuation methodologies (e.g., FIFO, weighted average).
- Proficiency in Excel and experience with ERP/Accounting Systems systems (e.g., Intacct); familiarity with pharmacy software (e.g., CareTend, CPR+) a plus.
- Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-complexity environment with tight deadlines.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Must have and maintain in good standing professional license, certificate, or registration, as applicable.
